My first born is about to make an appearance in a couple days so I thought it would be great to stick away a couple top notch beers to crack open on his 18th.

 

Anyone done this before - will they last that long?

Any suggestions for beers that fit the criteria?

 

I'm aiming to lay down a barley wine at some stage which I'm hoping will last the distance but it would also be great to get some other beers for a point of comparison.

"Under the house would probably be better"

In wellington id say that would be fine for 50 weeks of the year, but when it gets warm (if that happens) id consider putting it in the back of the beer fridge...

I dont have any room under the house, ive got a couple of TH 2008's which im just storing in my fridge @7*c, a bit too cold, but im sure its better than it being a bit too warm!
Great thanks for the advice - looks like I'll be stocking up on Thomas Hardy and some others.
Happen to visiting the UK in a couple weeks time (ash cloud permitting) so I'll check out the other suggestions.
I think smoked Beers are often aged - I think there is one from the Alaskan Brewing company as well as Invercargill Breweries and others.

When I made Jamil's smoked porter I had plans to age it for a year or two but it tasted so good right away there is not that much left. Might have to rebrew.
