hehe, I don't plan to do the same styles as you, just sort of happens... in any case the Sultan of Swing will be no ordinary dubbel, it'll be in between dubbel and triple with a sultana kicker and wont be out for another year, at least.
I'm only having you on... Tuatara have a dubbel on lees, from what I've heard on the street. Ours will be young but Her Majesty should always be a little more suitable for maturing than Him.
I was gonna say it was good enough for you to brew commercially! I cant wait for the 8 wired version :o) To be honest, I probably wouldnt change a thing from the one I had last night, it was truely awesome!!
I had a few beers up while I was in Auckland this weekend. Bob Hudsons, Heineken, Lion Red etc.
I had a nice session in Hallertau on Friday when I had a few Minimus' at Lunch time - thats a good lunch beer. I had some Brew Dog / Mikeller beer (which was some fucked up shit) and another Barleywine that I can't remember the name of. We had some Hahn Millenium beer - which is now (officially) the oldest beer I have drank. 11 years old. It was quite oxidised and tasted just like Port in a way.
The best beers was Maximus and Armageddon. We had a side by side, and Armageddon Pegged Maximus on the nose... it is really sweet and fruity. I'd be happy if I had a keg of that at home. Maximus pegged Armageddon on the palate though... just a little more agressive with slightly more depth. Damn close though and both beers are a 10 / 10 for me.
Roosters Summer Ale from Regionals this afternoon.
If I was going to give it the "case swap" I'd say:
The good
Damn drinkable afternoon summer ale...
The Bad
A bit of sulphur and grassy hops.
The Ugly
Puts to shame a few brewers who have had cracks at subtle beers and not pulled them off... and retailing at $6.75 for a 1.25L rigger it is unbelievably cheap. It's actually retailing for a price that most craft beers are wholesaling!!!
I'm not going to character match it... only homebrewers get that treatment.
