Ok, so What Are You Brewing was a hotty, as topics go.

Now I'm 15 pints into a keg I only filled on Tuesday and wondering if anyone else has a favourite at the moment ?

It's my second brown with US-Oh05 and it's better than the forst, maybe Ikept the temps down a bit during the scorcher we had in januray

Met these guys at D4 yesterday.

They've been in the South Island for a few months and although they'd come across Emerson's a bit, they hadn't tasted Bookbinder.

I've been so so on this old favourite for a while. It seems to have lacked the malt character to carry the usually big hop flavour (and also lift the hop aroma). As such, it had felt pretty weak through the middle.

It was with some trepidation that I ordered a round... needless to say it was tasting absolutely superb. The best I've had for a while, no for a long time. Get on down to D4 and have a go.

Mad props to the team at Emerson's.
That's not a clue for a future yeastie boys beer is it Stu - wheat beer ?
Nope.
there is no wheat beer in my short or long term plans. I like other people making my wheat beers (I don't drink enough of them to warrant it).
648 - Tweaked Extract Cascade Ale

3KG LME, 500gm Munich mashed
18 IBU Willamette Bittereing
8 IBU Cascade 30 min
7 IBU Cascade 15 min
20gm Cascade dry hopped

1.051 33 IBU '05

It's a step up on the first attempt that didn't have the Munich. I found straight LME a bit thin and lacking in the body
I'm pleased with the balance this has

I kegged this last Tuesday (needed a fermenter) and force carbed as much as it would stand at 20C
No room in the fridge so left sitting at ambient in the garage
Popped it in the fridge Monday night on gas and voila ! drinking chilled and gassed beer on Tuesday night

It's a little syrupy, but wtf it's only day 2 in the fridge and it's still short a bit of condition. Should go on to be a favourite

Glass hopped IPA.
How's it taste glasshopper ?
Meh, average. Was kinda failz from the start really.

But considering the dramas I had from this beer from mash-out to keg it's not too bad. Just needs refining as a recipe more than anything.

Glass hops are freakin' mean, at the end of the pint, get the hop and squeeze out the beer-juice into your mouth...sooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooood.
EPIC ALERT. Special on again, $15.90 a six pack @ Moore Wilsons (bless 'em). Might just have one now,
Aww man wish I was in welly this week :o(
Yeh, if you lived in Wellington, you could pick up your 6-pack of Epic and then head up to Regionals for a couple of litres of Emerson's White Label Old Cascade.
Aww come on Stu, thats just nasty :oP

I might have to beg my friend to send me up a rigger of that stuff...

Why does Emersons allways bring out shit like this and not bottle it? I can only read about it on here and be jelous :o(
Good news, the white label is bottled and only available at the brewery....get on the phone!!! :0)
