Yup, I think you can almost guarantee that if a mainstreamer does not say it is all malt, then sugar is added (am I being cynical here??). Still, Belgium monks have been adding sugar for centuries :)
Non of them are sugar free, Saw the same thing at Mac's brewery an enormous vat of sugar.....evr wonder why the mouthfeel of sassy red for example has gotten thinner....substitute sugar for malt and that's what you get.
I like it when breweries say their beers contain no sugars or preservatives. Just saw this at Galbraith's website :-P (nothing against them, I hear very good things).
Well the beers gonna be low in alcohol and have a very dry finish, unless maltose (and all the other sugars present in wort and beer) isn't actually a sugar. And I'm pretty sure one of them main reasons hops are added (besides, flavour/bitterness and aroma) are for their preservative effects.
Haha just makes me smile, guess they gotta appeal to the mass market that don't really know anything about beer.
"Naturally" brewed with loads of "Naturally" chemicallly pure sugar... :) But, the greatest scam the big guys have put on the public is still consistingly making their beer 0.3% weaker ABV than they advertise on the can, because this is legal and they have the equipment to "blend" the beer to extremely acqurate strength. That way, a beer that is sold as 4% is actually only 3.7% and the excise tax is paid accordingly...
Man that 'naturally' bullshit just makes me angry....how do you unnaturally brew something? Didn't Mac's used to have an 'all malt' tag line? i know they promote that with there homebrew kits but it's funny that what's good for the goose is not good for the gander....mmmm chelsea sugar gooooood
Malt flavour extract plus vodka? Haha some beers taste like that anyway.
It's like the 'there's 5000 chemicals in tobacco/cannabis/this-bad-thing', there's that many chemicals in a tomato or fucking potato. I love societies fear of chemicals.
I have a summer ale to my mouth as I read this, 5/5 for attempt, drain pour for the rest.
Its like a Ginger beer infused with a touch of beer and with a spalsh of lemonade on top.
Speaking of 5.2% alc, I've just seen at the Mill they have a dozen flame beers for $9.99....BARGAIN! Although i'm not sure how they'll age....i've heard that they're Neil Miller's favourite beer....
