On the right track - I think apart from the brown grain -and possibly too much hops (but that will only be better !)

cheers, jt
I do half boils and the efficiency for bittering hops doesn't seem as great - I'm actallly trying to wind back the hops a bit but it's not easy! I love Motueka - great aroma today during the boil while I was stuck inside due to the constant rain.
Sunday the 16th of May - The Day Of The Beast

Another North Welly Brew day and perhaps a bigger 'show & tell' than the WBNC.
BBQ lighters that wouldn't work, stuck sparges, the power of the braid over false bottoms, portable brewstands, hops, hops and hops and then even more AA than a Sunday morning brain could comprehend ... and then the mill of mash destruction.

Hopefully Michael can post a pic or vid or two

cheers, jt
The attached images show the beasts used to tame the beers...more in the next post

I think this is the day that Chris's work shined. He brought his awesome brew set up, and the keggle that I was using was also made by Chris.

The mill was a bloody monster! There was no stopping this beast from crushing grains and all in its path!

Finally, John borught some great recipe ideas to the table, and helped talk me down from the 'just throw more hops in it damn it!' mentality. :) I reckon these will be some very tasty beers!

The Mill of mash destruction I like it lol!
Just worked out a few stats -
Both batches had efficiencys in the low 80s.
The IPA was 72ibu and the Brown 32ibu.
Do you recall final vols? IPA 24l & Brown 21l was my guess?
Was an awesome day everything went well! (apart from the BBQ lighter)
Thanks fellas esp Michael for the hospitality and generousity!
Cheers Chris
I think the brown was just under that Chris, a a bit over 20 L

If we bottle in a fortnight, do we sample one a week after at NW QB Tasting ?

'just throw more hops in it damn it!' mentality. :)
Seems like we did throw quite a few hops in there Michael, from what we tasted, the IPA's going to be a good'un

cheers chaps
Looks like I missed quite the brew day. Where'd you guys steal that setup!!
