On a similar subject, is there any need to fine or cool a wheat beer before kegging? It's finished and rested in primary (10 days or so all up), my thinking was it wouldn't need fining as it's a hefe.
I dont brew hefes but part of the style is that it has yeast in the beer and that it is cloudy - hefeweizen means beer with yeast im pretty sure...

So no need to fine or cold condition, theyre better drunk fresh (apparantly)
Wheat's are normally cloudy I thought...

And yes hefeweizen means "yeast wheat".
Since im feeling at home off work sick I thought I better come up with a an Imperial or Double IPA to brew next,

Apocalypse Double IPA

60% Pils
20% Munich
4% Caramalt
6% Dextrose

65Degree Mash

80Ibu Simcoe @ 60

80Ibu Simcoe @ 20

50g Amarillo 50g Cascade @ 15

50g Centennial 50g Simcoe @ 10

50g Simcoe 50g Amarillo 30g Centennial @ 0

Dryhop 1 after 4 days 50g Simcoe and 30g Amarillo for 5 days than Crash cooled and fined overnight than racked to the dryhopper with 30g Simcoe 30g Amarillo and 30g Centennial close the lid so it forms some top pressure for 5-7 Days. Cooled than racked to keg.

1.090 - 1.010, 10.5% Alc
230IBU
WLP001
100ppm Ca, 300ppm Sulphate
Mate, that almost looks good enough for a trip to wellington :o) Noice mate!!
Yeah hopefully it should be good!! Im trying to get rid of my US hops so I can get some 2009 models and 2010 Aotearoa Hops, Cant wait to do an NZ Imperial IPA might be a beefed up version of the NZIPA I done which I reacon is still the best one I have done or a Imperial Training Wheels

Edit to Recipe im Going to Use Pacman for it.
....Edit to Recipe im Going to Use Pacman for it.

Used it before? Thoughts? Good? Bad? Great?

Got some in the fridge now, will use it for the next beer after the BPA I'll do with the schelde yeast I've got spinning up at the moment.
I dont think anyone apart from Tony has used Pacman yet Glen, allthough everyone seems to have acquired it recently... Ive read good things on the AHB site...
Cheers, might have a look over there.

Most of the US forum stuff relating to Pacman seems to be geared toward a Dead Guy clone, which isn't too high on my priority list.
Nah not as yet, its sitting in the work fridge as soon as I can im going to spin some up for this beer man im going to have to like spin 6L for it!!
Wouldnt it be easier to just brew a smaller beer first then use the cake?
Maybe? But it all depends on the arsed factor!!
