This is pretty much my house ale, except ive subbed Munich for kolsch cos im out at the mo, and trialling this new yeast blend which is sposed to be the bizness! I normally use Nugget for bittering as well but you convinced me to try it with Columbus :o)
The pilots used Wyeast Cali lager and SO5. GTB used S-05. Never used the white labs - be keen to know what it comes up like
Columbus for bittering is the business IMO - we played about with columbus, simoce and amarillo in various quantities before settling on the final hop schedule, which I can't recall at the moment
Interesting you tried a blend of cali lager and s05? Cos the cream ale blend is sposed to be lager and ale strains which im quite looking forward to finding out what its like with a warmish ferment...
Yeah I rebrewed a summer ale and the only change I made was bittering hop from nugget to columbus and its pronounced the Amarillo so much more than with the nugget which I found really interesting!! Columbus is the bizness all round IMO ;o) Dont be afraid to throw em in the dry hop!!
No, did a few batches - some with cali and some with S05 - did think about doing a blend but never got round to it. The idea behind that was to try and replicate the white labs blend you've got.
No dry hopping with the GTB - we went 60, 30, 15 and 0. Hopefully you'll see some of it in AKL, but I'm not too sure about that. Otherwise I'm sure we can sort something
