Heres another fucked up beer have made that tastes awesome, Berliner Weiss, I had it out of the fermenter with no carb, it was tart and not that flash, chucked some peach syrup in it and it was the Best beer of 2010!!

I think I read it in Radical Brewing. Haven't brewed with blueberries yet myself though. When I make blueberry smoothies for the kids they always come out purple.
Wow, I was going to brew last weekend but I went up to the blue berry farm up on Akatarawa Rd and the little Yankie kid was trying to sell me 1kg for $30 fucking little bastard!! He stopped that beer dead in its tracks!!
Here's a little video blog about vertical tasting Orval... I did think to myself (not for the first time) just drink the bloody beer but I guess they're catering for the average drinker rather than brew geeks. I'm not sure about her vinegar call. I have NEVER got vinegar off Orval. Maybe she's just more attuned to it.
Then, conversely, I found this... this is more along the lines of what I'd read a few years ago in an article about one of the brewers. He loved the fresh beer, which he said was more muted in the aroma and hop department and actually expressed the Brett character MORE (yes!!) than in the older beer. Contradictory? It's certainly made me want to get stuck into a vertical tasting but how am i going to get that super brewery fresh bottle to try alongside the aged versions!?
I must admit I always think there is something wrong with people who hate Orval. Kieran does too.
But at least you admit it!
Have you tried De Ranke XX. Awesome beer! Apparently similar to what Orval used to be like. It closer to an Enlish IPA (or strong pale ale) than Orval. Not as bone shatteringly dry.
Cant say I have, I have tried to like Orval about 5 times, each time though it has gone down the drain well in my case into that barleywine 3 of them plus porter noir. I love bretted beers just not that one.
