CS4 - Rev's Ode to Mt Tamborine's Moderation Pale Ale 'Little IPA'

Or I guess ROMTMALI for short ;o) damn, wish I thought of that for a label lol

Basically was going for a low abv beer with loads of hop flavour and aroma, an IPA you can drink after mowing the lawns or at the beach... This is definately a work in progress, i plan to do a few variations to try and nail it for a house beer so very keen on all open and honest, even ruthless feedback ;o)

50% melanoiden?? LOL, that just might up the malt character ;oP

Im just thinking along the lines of the double IPA's ive brewed, theyve all been 90,60,30,0, dry and have a good amount of hop flavour, but good malt character too...

Hmmmm, the plot thickens... guess theres only one way to find out, brew it :o)
Yeah but remember when you brew a IPA you have like 3 times the amount of malt in the mash tun for the same litreage, my thoughts is that usual percentages dont work for slender beers they work the opposite, have a look at weyerrmann off the top of my head they say that you can uses shit loads of it for low alc beers. Just checked 20%
I think youre onto something there, I was even scared too put as much carapils in this beer as I did cos I personally hate that carapils sweetness/flavour coming through in my hoppy beers, but as you suggest, I could have got away with alot more percentage wise!!

Interesting...
Shet yes!!
The good
Clean, clear, deliciously hopped... I know I harp on and on about balance... this beer is almost perfectly balanced, which is an excellent achievement for such a full on beer. I reckon you'll nail it next time.

The bad

Just needs a little more malt sweetness to lift the mouthfeel and balance, it'll help the hop flavour shine too.

The ugly
I've played around with low abv beers a lot and discussed them ad nauseum... I wish I'd thought of this first... you bastard! Almost finished all the beers on my third case swap and this is number one so far. Great work bro. It's not the best achievement-wise but is easily the best effort-wise.

Character match
... the lil fella with loads of strength.
Awesome feedback Stu, cheers! Im glad you liked it :o)
