Did "Special K" steal my bitterness?
I've recently been sampling my latest Pale Ale for which I used Global Koelsch as the base malt and the bitterness seems very low. It could be early days seeing as it's still in the fermenter but I can't help but wonder. Has anyone else noticed a decrease in bitterness when using Global Koelsch or should I be looking elsewhere for the culprit?

Oops, I just went to have another sample and discovered that everything in my beer fridge is frozen! There isn't any yeast stored in there (phew) but there a few different beers and a fermenter with 23L of B-Sharp. A bottle of Green Man Stout has popped it's lid but that seems to be the only visible damage.
Will B-Sharp B-OK? My plan was to keg 19L and bottle the rest with priming sugar. Do you reckon it will carbonate or will the yeast be dead?

it is quite flavoursome compared to some malts
I'm comparing it to Maris Otter.
or regular fridge woes ?
Yep, just regular fridge woes, I don't have a temp mate or anything fancy. I turned the fridge thermostat down low for a crash cool and the whole thing froze. I haven't had the fridge very long, I'm still getting used to it.
Done that a couple of times... turned a 60/- into an 80/- and, recently, turned my case swap sumemr bitter into an Eis-bitter. The beer will be ok (as good or as shit as it was before the freeze!) but get the temp right up otherwise it'll take an age to defrost.

Your dead right there Stu! I was planning on kegging it last night and it's still half frozen. I thought 2 days at 10c would do the trick but I was wrong. It's sitting at room temp now. This beer was due to be kegged on Wednesday and I doubt the ice will have melted by the end of today.
I'm now officially out of home brew, for the first time in 2 years!!! 3 full fermenter and no beer.
Tuesday:
Twisted Hop Sauvin Pilsner (bottle). Slim, hoppy, assertive bitterness. Body is lifted by that nice oily palate that Sauvin brings to the equation. All in all it's very nice. I'd like to side-by-side this beer with Three Boys Golden.
Wednesday:
Twisted Hop IPA (bottle). More of a strong amber than an IPA for me...it's quite dark and there is a good dose of toastiness in there. Think Worthington White Shield but not as estery. Beautiful delicate stonefruit hop flavour that is more stonefruit than anything else I've tried recently. Pretty assertive bitterness but the toast clashes a little. The jury's out but I'll reinvestigate later.
Plus a bit of nerdherder, my last bottle of PKB 2009, a few homebrews (case swappers).

My first Nerdherder (D) at D4. Served too cold as usual and appearred quite hazy but what a great beer! A great example of what a NZ Pale Ale should be in my eyes. Best beer I've had this year.
From a beer geek perspective it'd be nice to taste B&D side by side.
