Ok, so What Are You Brewing was a hotty, as topics go.

Now I'm 15 pints into a keg I only filled on Tuesday and wondering if anyone else has a favourite at the moment ?

It's my second brown with US-Oh05 and it's better than the forst, maybe Ikept the temps down a bit during the scorcher we had in januray

Yep... could be the best beer in the world on its day... but so could Grafton Porter.
Don't have time to read the full letter at this moment but I find a few things rather interesting from a very quick skim read:

1) What were they thinking in not blocking out his email address?
2) He's objected to 10 licence requests (why are a few blacked out, surely only Hashigo Zake should be visible to Dom). 10 licence requests is probably every notice in one issue of The Wellingtonian. So it appears to be a blanket obejection against all requests.
3) If I'm right (at point 2), a blanket objection must be a time wasting (and, hence, a profit paralysing) issue. The LLA need to have a process that removes this. Mr O'Shaugnessy should be talking to MP's and the LLA at a macro level (i.e. legislation and policy change) rather than objecting toe every licence application.

I'd prefer to see Dominic take this up with the LLA themselves... this guy is obviously a greasing time-waster with nothing better to do than to waste our taxes and hold up Dominic's chance to run a viable business.

It would also be a good idea to invite Mr O'Shaugnessy down to Hashigo Zake to inspect just how wrong he is in regards to "pushing booze in large quantities. Perhaps he could be convinced with a nice wee snifter of Rogue XS IIPA or Baird's angry Boy Brown Ale?

There may well be an outside chance to sue the guy for defamation but in this case there will only be two winners... his lawyer and yours!

ps. @Mike - as far as I am aware, Dominic is totally within his rights to sell said Rogue XS beers to an off-licenced venue who could then onsell to the public (i.e. you).
Hmmm????
Drinking Emerson's London Porter tonight, it's the first time I've had it. Lovely roasted coffee with a touch of chocolate.

Scarily like my stout... :P
Drinking a Liefmans Goudenband from BeerStore at the moment.

Great beer. Interesting candy-cane-like mint in the aroma. Not tongue splitting sour and a great malt character and well balanced over all. I'm loving these Flander's type beers.
one of my all time favourites...
Yeap, think this just made the top of my list.
Had a much anticipated Nerdherder @ The Free House after work (presume it was 'B' from the taste & timing). What a stunner! This is the Pale Ale I've been looking for. I've been using Mot & NZ Cascade in my brews so I love this combo and it really shines in this commericial version. Fresh bitterness, followed by a complexity of fruit & malt flavours but nothing overpowering. Could easily have several of these - might have to go in tomorrow for another.

Yes, it's good isn't it. I've used them with some hallertau and that's good too
Don't forget that there's sauvin there too

This is the Pale Ale I've been looking for

Yes, it's good isn't it. Had a Nerdy with B, must check out the D

Cheese & Whiskers, it's almost two years since I started this topic and I'm still drininking a brown with '05 and still have trouble typing / spelling !

Trying to finish the back right keg of cascade ale so I can put the new Mot Brown with Special K on tap - I have high hopes for this'un
cheers Christan... glad you enjoyed. I had it side by side with Epic Pale Ale the other day and thought that somewhere between those two beers is my perfect hoppy New World pale ale (until I change my mind next month).
Correct. (To the ps)

Just like Stu can't sell Yeastie Boys beers directly to the public, he can sell them to us, and we can then sell them to the rest of NZ.

Bottles of Nerdherder 'D' available late next week,, BTW.

Daniel
