What are you brewing?

I read Pacific gem and Rakau (organic to please the brewing Gods)
Can't say from first hand experience, didn't try a pint of KC

It's nice in the Exchange Student... comes across as a super Fuggle to me (though that might be the combo with Willamette).

KC did have a splash... just a touch.

It's certainly not a hop I'd imagine using in a single hop beer. I've heard it has sold out so someone is liking it for something.

Haven't had all the latest brews... we don't get much better than Tui here in New Plymouth. I'll be in CHCH on Wednesday and Thursday next week... so might get to have a try then.

None taken, you should know that! :) I have a beer conditioning ATM that uses rakau, not too bad but prefer riwaka!

Have two sauvin cascade beers coming up so we'll see how they progress!

Are there some similarities ? I really haven't read what Rakau is like .. any potted description, there was none last time I went past nzhops.co.nz

I'm sure there is much more difference then my uneducated palate discerns....

I get more citrus grapefruit from Riwaka and a little more spice / herb tones, where as Rakau is more stone fruit / passion fruit. Rakau sounds nice, but I have never used it by itself.

After drinking last night a sensational Mikeller Single Hop Nelson Sauvin last night I thought I will pay homage to this hop and Brew a all Nelson Sauvin Blonde

87% Global Pils
8% Global Light Caramel
5% Wheat

65 Degree Mash

60g Nelson Sauvin from 30 mins and Less giving me 28Ibus

1.050 - 1.009 5.2% ABV

S05 @ 16 Degrees

I think Sauvin is a wicked hop!!

Yeah its all you need for a simple easy drinking ale. The more complexe the grain or hop bill is, the more you have to do to the beer to get it drinking spot on!

Looking good Mike, should be a nice amount of flavour in there from the sauvin.. Have you tried the global caralight yet?
