But, we're still up against the Herald's standard stereotype that those who enjoy beer are "beer-swilling" and those who prefer wine are "wine-lovers" or "wine aficionados"...
"Sixteen years ago the Kiwi quit his job at an Auckland hospital to visit his brother in Tokyo, and ended up staying. Since then he has helped pioneer internet marketing, has taken two companies public (becoming the first foreigner to do so in Japan), and is now dabbling in a variety of ventures, including trying to turn the beer-swilling Japanese into a nation of wine-lovers."
"His ambition is to turn a nation of beer drinkers into wine aficionados..."
But, there's a couple of avenues in Auckland that SOBA needs to plug, one is the Herald for certain. The other is fine dining establishments - White, the French Cafe, Dine et al.
SOBA should brainstorm a couple of initiatives that target a specific Herald columnist, and a top chef. These people are the ones most easily able to spread the good word, we just have to seed the concept.
Good idea Barry.... but I have theory that the Herald has DB up its arse, free beer for parties, DB promotions in the rag,and no coverage of the Radler story. Also lots of top venues in town definitely have the big boys owning the fridges, I know because they will not even take samples , some of them.
