That was an awesome buzz last night regarding the US Beer on Beerstore...

So what did you order? No prizes for guessing what I orderd...

I want statistical evidence of this!! I DEMAND IT.

If it's true, I'm going to quit brewing. I wont be a part of anything as bad as smoking.
Nice & controversial, but perhaps not in this thread?
Sierra Nevada Pale... had it better, had it worse.
Stone IPA and Ruination... meh!
Dogfish 60min IPA... meh!
Flying Dog IPA... meh!
Anderson Hop Ottin'... a bit better than meh! but it's bordering on too malty for an IPA.
Anderson Oatmeal Stout... pretty bloody good Oatmeal Schwarzbier.

Nothing very good yet, let alone stunning, but I've got a few to go (and have been rather blessed with the freshmaking quality of Epic Armageddon and Yeastie Boys 'His Majesty' IPA over the last few weeks). And saving the best (black beers) for last.
Fair bit of Meh going on there Stu! Just had some (bottled) Armageddon with dinner (ring stinging chilli!).. Was really good, maybe going to have a Paradox Springbank if I am in the zone tonight.
Armageddon kicks any of those US beers up the "big big lily botty" (as my three year old boy would say).
It's a freshness thing. Take Armageddon to the USo'A in 6 months time and it would probably be a different story. We're lucky here. They're lucky there.
kind of interesting that originally, IPA would have been matured for a minimum of 6 months - in some cases as much as 2 years
yeh, these are different sorts of IPA's made for instant consumption rather than a long journey.

I suspect that if we could go back 200 years it would take us a while to adjust to the historical IPAs.

One thing I will say about these US beers is that are all really well made. Haven't had a beer that had any hint of a fermentation issue. Not a hint of any problem other than a bit of age. They all taste great, just a bit jellied (or 'barley sugar' as Greig calls it) they just lack a bit of life.
Agree 100%. Jellied is interesting! :)
hmmm, sounds like I was wise (lucky) to stick with barley wines, belgians and other beers that age well this time. Not that I didn't want to get a load of IPA's but I had to draw the line somewhere... and there were so many awesome maltdriven beers this time that it didn't worry me.
Anyone had trouble with orders from Beerstore? I just spent half an hour working out 11 bottles (was up to about $150) and on my twelth selection it somehow dropped everything else and came up with: 1 bottleselected, you have room for 11 bottles with the same shipping... AGGGGGHHHH!!! Shut down computer. Go find my Rasputin. Good night.

Why can't we log in and keep a shopping cart partially filled, like Morebeer, so that we can come back later and finish it off?
The Rasputin made all well...
ssshhhhhhhh.... if they fix that problem I will just spend even more money...
