In the continuing saga of brewing my first big beer, the Russian Imperial Stout, there is now a slight smell of bubble-gum coming from the fermenter. It's not unpleasant but I was expecting something more along the hop lines (there's 128grams of aroma hops in there).

It's sitting on a warmer pad (with a cloth over the pad) and the pad comes on for 1/2 and hour every hour and the strip on the side is holding at 17°C.

Anyone had this before?

sounds like a normal fermentation smell to me...
Yeah I got all sorts of gnarly smells from my RIS, worked out fine in the end. In fact I drank almost all mine pretty much straight away, too tasty to age hehe
Thanks guys. I was really worried it had gone horribly wrong after the rescue from the freezing room :o)
