I'm all about the mad props at the moment....credit where credit is due!

I'm a shocking grazer when i'm at the pub, i flit from beer to beer, style to style but i had an epic on Friday night at D4 and it was AWESOME!!!

had another....and then another!
three in a row which is crazy for me and then my wife turned up to take me home. Next day i thought 'i need more of these' so to spread the love we went to the malthouse and i had another 3 in a row and shunned all other tasty beverages!

Anyway mad props to Luke :0)

Drinking a christmas tree....classic!
I'm still having pleasant dreams about that faithful moment Epic Porter changed my life. It was like a 1930s Romance movie... Gone with the wind, maybe...

One day... maybe one day I will drink that again.
God damn man stop teasing, its just not fair :oP Remember at school how you couldnt eat in class unless you brought enough for everyone, well thats what youre doing, but you dont have enough for everyone :o( lol
Well - what can I say... maybe someone can petition Luke to brew it again?
1 case vote here!!!
I'd rather he brewed Armageddon again....now that was a GREAT beer!
1 vote here also!!
Really? You liked Armageddon more than Porter? I mean - I like hops heaps too... but Porter was really reall good.

I'm sure they'll both show an appearance again one day... Hopefully Porter before Winter would be nice... I'm all hopped out at the moment.
I liked Monks Habit more than either of them. Would love to see a nice big Amber Ale out of the Epic stable. I thought the porter was really nice but a bit too dry, like a lot of NZ porters. More like an American Stout (which can be quit porter-ish).
Funny you say that about Monks. It was good. I had it for the first time in 18 months today - and it didn't feel like it had the life it used to have. It smelled like I remember it - maybe a bit sweeter. I don't know - when was the last time you had it?
It's been a while since it was on tap here. Probably around Setptember when I last tried it. I remember a few of us had a glass of each of Monk's and Armageddon. We discussed the meaning of life (and how Armageddon was like an obscenely dry hopped version of Monk's - I love how both of them had a lot of malt weight to carry the hops, and despite the dry finishes they both had a lovely sweetness through the first half).
At Kumeu, Armageddon was a malty beast. The bitterness was still there, there was a hint of hop freshness on the nose with masses of heavy malt. I had about 3, I think. It was a bit oxidised however - as to be expected for such a heavily dry hopped beer.

Porter though...

Pretty freeking good for its vintage...

Will continue to improve more, I believe...
