Hey guys

The last case swap went really well, it was just between AKL and ChCh, but this time round, if theres some people from Wellington keen to join in, well work something out...

So were planning on doing this again, probably once every three months or so to get feedback on our beers, and to try what everyone else is making... Im hoping this time round we get a few more people keen on this?

We need to do a few things

1. Compile a list of everyone whos keen, then decide how many batches we all do, if theres less people, well do 2 or 3 batches each...

2. Once we know whos in this time, we can vote on a date, which looks like its gonna be mid feb to mid march, depending on what works for everyone...

So ill start this off, im in :o) Who else is keen?

Do you ferment in a chest freezer? And you can only fit one in there? Thats a shame, maybe you should build a cool room :oP lol

Or just have one fermenter for ales, and ferment em at room temp?

james is onto it, 8 fermenters!! Nice!
Ouch 28 is a tad high, you can always try the old ice water bath, that keeps my ales at a steady 21*ish, ive had one creep up to 24 on me but that still turned out fine..
... and then the fridge space for temperature control.... I have 8 fermenters, but only space for one in the fridge at a time. Probably change the freezer to accommodate more I guess......
What am I going to brew for this? April drinking? I know a 8% Amber IPA?
US hops please :oP lol
Magnum Cascade Centennial?
Sounds tasty bro!
Mines brewed, bottled & ready to go!

It's a re-brew of my highest scoring beer at last years comp. I reckon I've made better beer since but I've put my opinions aside and brewed what the judges rated highest. NZ Brown Ale.
NZ Brown ?
Interesting Mr C, do tell more .. where's the balance ?
I don't want to give away all my secrets but...

a hint of light crystal
a splash of pale chocolate
just a dash of chocolate
and a handfull of NZ Cascade at flame out

It's already got two the thumbs up my old man.
Oops, I forgot to mention the scoop of medium crsytal.

I tweaked this one slighty by reducing the overall crystal & swapping some for a lighter crsytal. I think it worked well too.
hint, splash, dash, handfull & scoop - sounds like santa should have bought you some scales Mr C

I like the comment about reducing the crystal overall, it doesn't take much to colour it up nicely, especially if you have some chocolates in there.

Whatabout the OG, FG and IBU - or if top secret just the gravity / bittering ratio ?
Curious to compare with my own brown coloured ale
