Any issues with keeping CO2 and reg inside chest freezer

Guys..Just added the new chest freezer addition which holds 5 x cornys...to the clinkbrauhaus brewing facility ( thanks James for the name) and was curious about keeping the CO2 cylinder inside the chest freezer... Whats the worst that could happen and whats the likely...i.e worst is it could blow up and demolish half your house but reality dictates it'll be fine and dandy...etc...or don't even think about it..

Reason I ask is the gas line is currently carbonating a keg inside the middle fridge ( thats also my controlled fermentation cabinet) but is getting pinched if I 'feed it in' under the lid of the new chest freezer. Ultimately plan to build a collar but thats a week or two away.

I've seen a lot of posts with guys arguing the toss about its location on other websites but nothing too definitive..Thanks to James for his time and efforts on Saturday and thx to Harvery Norman for 30 months interest free...

Cheers

Just chuck it in. No dramas.

The worst that will happen is that the pressure on the bottle will read a little lower on the gauge 'cause the tank is colder, you'll also get a little less out of the tanks because of the lower pressure but I'd say the amount would be negligible.

As far as safety goes - it's probably safer in the freezer. I know a panel beater who had an oxy tank fall over and knocked the top off. Shot right through a 8" or so concrete wall.

Personally I'd leave it out so I could fit another keg in :-P
Thanks mate. Plan to leave it out entually but not until I get the collar made and drilled. Will stick it in sos I can get another brew going in the fridge where the current corny is sitting. Thx again
I used to keep mine in the fridge because I was too lazy to drill a hole and I couldn't bring myself to ruin the fridge. No probs as far as I was aware.
Yup, I see a lot of American's making kegerators out of these small Sanyo fridges, majority of them have the CO2 tank inside.
I was concerned that if for some reason the freezer decided to freeze, then that could cause an issue. However with the fridgemate that shouldn't happen!

Hmm, Hardly Normal for 30 month interest free... how many litres did you get in the end?
Interestingly enough, they all looked like they would take 3 to 6 cornys but when I measured them internally then drew out with chalk on the concrete, the worst was the warehouse 150L model that held 2 and the best was the westinghouse 320l model that held 5. Very very deceptive when looking in at them from above..Massively underestimated the size of the space. Also, a lot of them seemed to be 25.5 inches deep and the corny with the disconnects and james guest quick release fittings on top was pushing this with the lines in and out as well.
Go the westinghouse 320L :o) Thats exactly what I got!
