We all love a mince and cheese pie, well, a proper kiwi does anyway :o)

I was thinking at lunch, what would be the perfect beer to accompany a good ol mince and cheese pie with tomato sauce?? What do you drink with your pie?

And please dont tell me Tui to go with a Tui pie and some Tuimato sauce on it... Even tho Tuimato sauce is pretty tasty...

YEEESSSSSS.

Melton Mowbray pie, pickles and something nice and bitter.
Americans also call a pizza a pie.....
Gourmet just means it has actual meat in it, not entrails.... :)
Yeah couple of tablespoons, enough to thickin the gravy. That and fish and chip in our pubs were the biggest sellers, I dont know why we dont sell them over here!!
They won't fit in the pie warmer shelves ?
Yeah they are normaly only 80mm in diameter and I think all our fish in our fish and chip shops should use beer batter.
Cheers mate, ill try and get the missus to make this over the weekend :o) Cos if I do it, it will end up burnt lol
So might I!! I miss them.
I miss it too, and I've never had it.

I reckon a little bit of tomato sauce/paste is the key to a mean pie filling. I always use just a little, enough to get a little hint of it without it being a really noticeable flavour.
The Kiwi twist to an olde ye english favorite
The perfect beer to accompany a good ol mince and cheese pie with tomato sauce is a beer that was being brewed on a previous brew day.

When I'm brewing in the shed, there's usually a Chutney or Tomato sauce in progress in the kitchen.

Mrs S brings a pie or sandwich out for me along with various bottles of home made sauces & chutneys.

I enjoy my lunch with a home made beer & chutney/sauce from previous brew and sauce days

This is what I call Beer Matching and

Hope this all makes sense.LOL
Go on Mr S, where's the pix ?
