Thought it would be cool to have a recipe thread for the case swap so we all know what were expecting... Im doing a batch next weekend, still unsure what I will do yet... But,

Im thinking of using this one as I tried it last night and it was very interesting :o)

1kg Maris Otter
1kg Pilsner
1kg Munich
500g Weyermann Smoked
300g Cara Wheat
100g Cara Munich II
200g Cara Hell

60 min : 15g Southern Cross 13%
15 min : 15g Amarillo 8.4%, 10g Williamette 7.5%
5 min : 15g Amarillo, 8g Williamette
Flame out : 12g Amarillo

Used US-05 yeast, final volume 22 litres, OG of 1037 and FG of 1010, alc 4% on the dot

This had a superb Amarillo hop aroma bursting out of the glass, followed by a smooth maltiness and an awesome slight smokiness to the bitter finish which really compliments the earthiness of the Williamette hops... So yeah, was really happy with this one :o)

Not a bad idea to look at a date now, would give us plenty of time to work out numbers and brew a truckload of beer ;o)

Im thinking every three months, not too far apart, but not too close together either :o) What do you guys think?
January is good for me, oh and Feb. March, April.... you get the picture!!

Then again I only get to brew once a month at this stage... maybe more if I can get the Minister of Warfare, Investment, Finance and Entertainment to agree.

It may be an idea to invest in a new box of plastic bottles for the swap between those in each city, the outlay is minimal and the bottles are good if new. I think glass would be too heavy.
Should we say mid to end of Feb? Gives us a bit of time to get over the whole xmas new years debacle...

And yeah could be a good idea to look at a new box, only about $15, and glass would definately bump up the postage cost, specially if we get more people next time..
I would like to propse St. Paddy's weekend as the next date. January is crazy for me this year and the couple of extra weeks in March would be welcome.

Worst comes to worst, I'll jump in on teh end of Feb and send something a bit green for you guys.

Fingers crossed though, today I'll find out if the next case swap beer comes from the new brewery premises!
What do the other guys think? Should I start a new thread and see if we get any others keen on the next one?

Moving house buddy? Fun times all round ;oP
I dunno if I'll be moving house yet, auction today so fingers crossed. The place has a double garage and we have one car...HOOPLAH!

I guess it pays to start a new thread.
yeah, never too early to start planning recipes either

double garage, single car. MAN CAVE.
best of luck with the Auction mate...

Ill start a new thread soon..
Nice! Might have to try that Pale Ale myself some time Barry.. NZ goldings obviously work well!

I had Herrschnapps Drunken Pope ESB last night, when I realised there was no 1084 stout :o(

So do you guys want me to wait to post tasting notes? Or email Herrschnapps with em? Vote vote ;oP
Bump...

What do you guys wanna do? Barry, can you PM me my tasting notes? The suspense is killing me :o)
Reviled. I'm halfway through the pale ale.

I was convinced it had some roast barley on board...I was surprised to see the smoked malt in the mix. It adds a brilliant edge to the profile, not as obtrusive as a rauchbier but you can tell it's there. The hops are nicely bitter.

Physically, it's carbed exactly how i like it, not effervescent but not flat. Colour is excellent, the name Burning is spot on,

Clarity is a bit off but I suspect this is either chill haze or the BIAB effect. It's not a bad thing but I guess a judge at a BJCP would mark you down. I'm trying to decide whether to leave the criticism here, i hope it's taken in the spirit it's intended.

To be honest, I'm surprised at how balanced this is. Good show
Cheers mate, appreciate the feedback... And the clarity is down to chill haze, thats gonna be the next thing I aim to improve cos I have it like buggery in all of my beers :o( Drinking Barrys beer made me realise how bad it is...

I was quite happy with the balance on my Pale Ale too, it was a bit of a case of what can I make out of what I have here, and I had a recipe for Dr Smurtos Golden Ale near by, so I based it off that and just modified it...

On another note, I tried the Hop(e)less Ale last night, it was veeeery refreshing, I wouldnt say it was too underhopped cos it wasnt too sweet (which is something I normally cant stand) Definately a good lawnmower beer :o)

Nice carbonation to it, had a good fluffy head which disappated slowly... Seems to be a good beer to drink in the blistering sun..
