Thought it would be cool to have a recipe thread for the case swap so we all know what were expecting... Im doing a batch next weekend, still unsure what I will do yet... But,

Im thinking of using this one as I tried it last night and it was very interesting :o)

1kg Maris Otter
1kg Pilsner
1kg Munich
500g Weyermann Smoked
300g Cara Wheat
100g Cara Munich II
200g Cara Hell

60 min : 15g Southern Cross 13%
15 min : 15g Amarillo 8.4%, 10g Williamette 7.5%
5 min : 15g Amarillo, 8g Williamette
Flame out : 12g Amarillo

Used US-05 yeast, final volume 22 litres, OG of 1037 and FG of 1010, alc 4% on the dot

This had a superb Amarillo hop aroma bursting out of the glass, followed by a smooth maltiness and an awesome slight smokiness to the bitter finish which really compliments the earthiness of the Williamette hops... So yeah, was really happy with this one :o)

No one got any case swap recipes yet? What are you guys planning for the swap?
Bump...

Bottled up another brew in the weekend ready for the case swap... A nice DunkelWeizen, heres my recipe...
2kg German Wheat
1kg Pilsner
1kg Munich
250g CaraWheat
250g Weyermann Smoked
200g Chocolate
60 : 15g Hallertau
15 : 10g Hallertau, 10g Czech Saaz

Fermented with some recultured Emersons Dunkel Weiss yeast and had a nice banana smell to it :o)
Hey Reviled, just getting into this as I type.

It's a style I've never tried before and I guess I'm finding it hard to figure out if it's a good example of the style. My thoughts:

Physical: Poured a huge rocky head. It's quite highly carbed...is this to style?

Aroma: Lots of fruit aromas.

Taste: again, nice restrained use of rauchmalt. It's roasty but you can definitely tell there's more to the flavour. You can pick up loads of fruity aromas.

All in all, it's a decent beer, probably a style I'm not too fond, rather than anything wrong with your brewing. Still it's been an interesting drink.
Cheers for the feedback buddy...

Its not really a style I have all that much, just something I enjoy from time to time...

A weizen is normally highly carbed, allthough my particular dunkel was a tad on the sweet side, I find if you actually tip the yeast into the beer before you drink it, it can bring a bready bitterness to the mix.. Weizens are traditionally drunk with the yeast...

Good to say youve tried one now tho aye? :o)
Bump... Case swap successfull :o)

Above are my two recipes, update here with your recipes and tasting notes...
Sweet,

The recipe for mine is on the labels but I believe I got the FG wrong.
What NZ saaz did you use? Riwaka or Motueka?

And Barry, I really want to know what hops you used in your Pale Ale please :o)
They're packaged as NZ saaz unfortunately. Not that you'll be able to discern them, it really is MASSIVELY underhopped.
Random, whered you get those from? This is that lawn mower beer you did a while back yeah? Is it quite sweet. ..

Hey Rusty, was just reading through a thread on AHB about party kegs out of garden sprayers, did you end up making one or not?
He has homework to do first, his stirplate!!

I have 1/2 of the parts, just need to get the bulk head and a tap!
Slack, come on Rusty, pick up your game mate, you were asking about it a year ago ;oP lol
I'm a shocker mate. I'm all talk.
