I have been thinking this for a while, some people knit some people collect stamps and some of us watch birds.

Great point - I have to say the same goes for me. I used to drink less, probably because it just wasn't as interesting or enjoyable as it is now - whether I'm drinking my own or a decent craft brew. It also helps that I've converted my wife so I always have a drinking partner!
Last time I licked a stamp it didn't taste anywhere near as good as even a bad brew!
Trite comment, but then the guys above have eloquently said it all. But gosh, there is nothing quite like the feeling of drawing for yourself and your mates a pint of your own brew from your own keg in your own fridge in your own home!
Beer flavoured stamp adhesive... hmmmm....
Yes, that's a thought - a lick of Epic! But what if Steiny or Tui get in on the act? I think I'd prefer to stay with the glue mate!
I did like Joking's observation though: 'Most people brew at home because they are piss heads. I am a piss head because I brew at home.'
I don't drink enough to be a pisshead, so I believe I'm a hop head.

Besides I have a brother and his three brother in laws, and a brother in law that ensure none of my beers are wasted, or allow me to drink in excess (often).
I brew, therefore I exist.

Isn't that supposed to be: "I brew, therefore I am"? A good take on Descartes regardless :-)

Barry - For me it's the perfect blend of creativity and technical skill.

Very true, I've thought before that brewing runs and bleeds across the fine line between art and science.

Rev - Plus I just love brewing, I almost like it more than I like drinking :o)

On the same page there bro.

Stu - I brew, therefore I exist.

I brew, therefore I'm probably drunk.

Joking - Most people brew at home because they are piss heads. I am a piss head because I brew at home.

Me too bro, me too. I don't doubt the fact that I am an alcoholic, but I'm a functional alcoholic, I go to work, I spend time with my partner and family, but shit, I ain't gonna go a day without a beer.
Good on you Denimglen! With an admission like that it is only fair to stick my hand up and be counted in your club - can't see a point in letting a day go by without the kiss of the froth of an evening. 'An hour or two with a fine brown brew and I'm ready for anything' went a song once (though often as not that equals bedtime nowadays).
I've always defined an alcoholic as someone who needs ANY alcoholic beverage, regardless of quality. I'll only drink beer or scotch. :) Also, I tend to try not to drink during the week, though this week has been a write off. It's more for calorie reasons than anything, though I know that's been fully debunked!

seems that you say that every week!
And every week, it's true...
