Has anyone here brewed a beer using Rye? I just bought a 1kg bag of the stuff the other day. I guessing it might be good for a Saison? I'm told it gives a dry, spicy finish. Is this true?

Is there anywhere in NZ that sells Hop Vines?
I'm in Wellington and was wondering if there's a place nearby that might have them. Would they be available at any garden centre? (probably not eh.)
If anyone here knows I'd be grateful.

I just recently (Sunday midday) brewed a Bishops Tipple clone. (I'm hoping) It was a partial mash, using:
1.5Ib pale malt,
500gms crystal malt
1oz black malt
1oz wheat malt
A can of coopers real ale for malt extract.
Goldings Hops
750gms Golden Syrup
2oz Molasses
And Safale s-04
The airlock on the fermenter only just started bubbling now when I got home from work. Normally when I brew,…

What do you good people use to sterilize your brew buckets/carboys/brewing equipment etc?

Does anyone have any good Porter recipes they'd like to share? I'm looking at making a Porter for the winter and would like some ideas if possible, I normally do a partial mash (grains, hops and a can of malt extract) and am looking for an excuse to put my black malt and roast barley to good use!
Cheers in advance! :D

Last Sunday I brewed what will hopefully be a wheat beer. However the airlock on the fermenter stopped bubbling around Wednesday. Weather has been pretty cold the last couple of days but I've used a heat pad and it never dropped below 18 degrees. I took a hydrometer reading (I'm not very good at reading them) and it seems to have a high gravity, as if it still needs a few more days to ferment, but it just doesn't seem to want to do that. Is there any hope for this batch? (If not it'll be my…

I used:

1oz Wheat Malt
1oz Unmalted Roast Barley
.5oz Ground Coffee Beans (Havana)
1.8Kg Coopers Real Ale Kit (unfortunately it wasn't the dark version)

Pale Malt and Lager/Pilsner Malt. Does it matter if I boil them at the same temperature? Obviously I'll use lager yeast for the lager and pilsner malt and ale yeast for the pale malt, crystal malt etc.
Cheers.

I just finished brewing my corona style lager - my first partial grain lager ever! Hope it works out!
However there was one thing I did wrong...
Well, damnit! I left the grains boiling in the slow cooker for nearly an hour. Wasn't thinking straight. Stupid stupid!! I NEVER did this before! Soon I realised though! After ranting to myself hysterically like Christian Bale on the set of Terminator 4 I threw out the wasted grains and did another batch. This one I only did…

Hello,
I'm going to attempt to make a bland Corona type beer for a friend of mine - still not too sure what sort of ingredients to use. So far I'm going with lager grain, pale malt, light malt extract, rice flakes, and little to no hops of any kind (probably Sticklebract). Am I on the right track here?
Cheers!
