I find my begians are a bit solventy until they're about a month old, then then they come right. I didn't notice too much with this one, it was great at the time actually, maybe a bit young if anything.
First exbeeriment for spring given that I have tomorrow afternoon off work.... I'm just copying Mike really as I liked the sound of his stout but not a boysenberry fan....

I've never brewed with strawberries but I have heard from many places that they impart very little flavor and it might be dificult to pick up behind those roasted grains...
Otherwise, it sounds real tasty!:P
You and those damn cocoa nibs, my addiction keeps getting worse!
I've seen recipes for weizens with strawberry, but not a porter! I was hoping that the strawberries would come through similar to the chocolate tones, if there is little flavour from them, then I'll add some strawberry extract before bottling!
Oh and I'm making you one of the lab rats for the tasting!
Edit: maybe I should drop the choc and roast to 100gm each?

mmmm, looking forward to that, not many pleasures are greater than that of being a lab rat:P
I don't know if you need to drop the choc and roast, it'll be delicious either way I think. it might be easier for the berries, cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon to come through with less roasted grains though, maybe substitute a bit for some carafa special...?
Another thing to consider is if 2 kg of fruits is going to dry the beer out, you may want to consider more crystal or higher mash temp...
So Randy Mosher says... Basic Brewing Radio just did a show on brewing with strawberries, and the results were good, if a little marred by infection problems.
I'm guessing I'll have to add some strawberry extract to the secondary, and I'll have to watch the infection which BBR was leading the brewer to several times!
