Ok, so What Are You Brewing was a hotty, as topics go.

Now I'm 15 pints into a keg I only filled on Tuesday and wondering if anyone else has a favourite at the moment ?

It's my second brown with US-Oh05 and it's better than the forst, maybe Ikept the temps down a bit during the scorcher we had in januray

Classic American Pilsner

Im loving the 2124 character, its awesome, nice and clean with a very very subtle herbal aroma, not much hop aroma as I only late hopped, and the balance leans towards the malt which makes for a very easy drinking Pilsner, a really creamy mouthfeel from all of the maize, and I can definately taste it, so it does add a character to the beer, not to mention the awesome head retention!!!

All in all, I quite like it, its going to be perfect on the summer days in front of the bbq!! Next time I brew one I think ill have to dry hop it, and probably up the bitterness and flavour hops a wee bit :o)
Did you still have any flaked maize left that you were looking to get rid of? Was up at the Leigh Sawmill on the weekend and Peter was good enough to share his recipe for Thornycroft - but I seem to remember you mentioning flaked maize being hard to get hold of?
I got the flaked maize off of Peter, but sorry ive only got enough to do a couple more batches and have grown quite fond of it... You shouldve asked him to sell you some im sure he wouldve been more than happy to!

Heres a piccy :o)
I guess I'll be drinking this tonight...
you'll be swimming in it...
Damn I have grain in those bins can you put it on you roof Stu?
All safe!!!!! had to brave the warning!!
Poneke Pale Ale (Steve Baker's beer at Temperance). Damn fine. I had two glasses but I could well have settled in for six or eight... big tropical hop character on the nose, nice bitterness and dry hoppy finish, carried along nicely by a hefty caramel malt backbone... very sessionable. Punches well above its weight. Nice work on the tap badge too!

Steve was overly critical of the beer before we met to drink it. I reckon it may well be just coming of age now and he's not feeling so hard on himself. Get along and drink it up - force their hand in regards to getting more beers like this brewed. 2 x FTU!

I guess this sort of means I've broken my DB boycott but if so it was worth it. I didn't lower myself to cheeky Blondie, Tui Blonde or any of the other flavourless beers on tap.

I must say, I thought the little bar that the brewery is pretty nice. It'd be awesome if it was blocked off at the back and run by a handsome, softly spoken, refreshed-after-a-weekend-away, Scotsman.
I tried the Poneke after work one morning at 3am - great NZ hopped beer, shame about the surroundings.
It has certainly mellowed in the last couple of weeks. The extended whanau is in town for WoW so I might take them for a taste before retiring to the Malthouse.
World of Warcraft?? I know we've got some geeks on here but that's taking it a bit far! :-)
