85% Maltrurop
10% Munich I
5% Pale Crystal
1.040, 27 IBU and '05
15 IBU Super Apha and 12 of Cascade from 30 minutes
Tweak of the last one, more Munich, less crystal and more bitterness
All mashed in and peering out the window at the north welly dampness
This anzac morning I'm brewing an American Brown ale. Mashing as we speak.
4.5 Maris Otter
500gm Munich
300 light crystal
200 dark crystal
200 pale choc
90 minute boil
Southern Cross @60,
then all Amarillo at 15, 10, 5, 0
just mashed in a brew for the first time since early feb, too many other commitments! ironically my anzac brew features mainly american hops which is very rare in my brewhouse...
Imperial amber:
Gladfield, munich, dark crystal and caraamber. might decide on some cane sugar later but i'll probably wait and see how it ferments.
Bittering with Pacific Jade. simcoe, centennial and cascade towards the end.
colour coming out of the mashtun wasn't quite right so I adjusted it with a pinch of chocolate wheat malt. just hit the boil @ 1.060, should get about 1.075 after 90 mins and another 5 points if I decide to pimp it with some sugar.
Ingredients:
5 kg Golden Promise Pale (83.3%)
.75 kg Carared® (12.5%)
.25 kg Carapils®/Carafoam® (4.2%)
20 g Cascade (7.5%) - added during boil, boiled 60 min
30 g Cascade (7.5%) - added during boil, boiled 20 min
30 g Cascade (7.5%) - added during boil, boiled 10 min
30 g Cascade (7.5%) - added during boil, boiled 5 min
30 g Cascade (7.5%) - added during boil, boiled 1 min
The keg will be coming up to Auckland for a family get together (Poppys first brthday etc) and getting served by hand pump (Thanks Studio). I'll probably carb it naturally in the keg to around 1.5 - 1.8 vols CO2 and cross my fingers that I dont just pump foam.
