Weak doesnt mean less flavour... I have an Altbier which weighs in at a hefty 3.8%, and a mild which is even more hardcore at 3.2%, and they both have more flavour than a Monteiths black...

If you enjoy drinking beer wouldnt you want to drink more of it? :o)

5.2% much better than 5% steinekins.

you dont want to be stung with to much flavour also, as an easy drinking beer mellows your pallete, a complicated one like Epic leaves you jumping

I have a picture from the Montheith's brewery tour of a pallet of "industrial sugar" that was bigger than some of the pallets of malt.

I kinda lost interest after that

Welcome to much of the commercial breweries in NZ for the mainstream beers. Remember sugar is a natural ingredient too.
