Hi there,

Does anyone know where in NZ you can pick up something like this:

http://morebeer.com/products/blichmann-floor-standing-burner.html

I'm after a decent gas burner, as the two-ring job I got from Mitre10 doesn't quite cut it, and even if I upgrade to a 3-ring, I am sick of mucking around with cinder blocks etc to balance the pot on.

Failing that, does anyone know whether this would work on bottled gas in NZ. Not sure what the americans use in their bottles - so unsure if there would be any compatibility issues.

Cheers!

I have 1 and works great with our gas. cheers

Thanks mate!. Now to work out how to hide the purchase from the wife....

Don't hide it just apologise for it later. Flowers and dinner help... or you could enquire about the new dress she is wearing and you may never have to speak of the burner =)

I have one also and it easily does the job for my 23 odd liter batches.

I bought one of these Bayou Classic SP10. It works fine on NZ gas, boils a 20L batch in about 10mins. Works out at about $100 delivered.

I am just waiting on the health and safety sign off on these burners to supply in NZ, maybe a month away but should be shipping first stock in a fortnight if anyone is interested.  Not sure on prices until I have spoken to customs but should be pretty good.  Regulators too.

I haven't had a flaming hose whipping around yet, so 1000% safer than the Bunnings 2 ring burner.

Individual imports seem to get left alone, I even declared it as a gas burner and it didn't get checked. Supplying in bulk would be a different proposition. The reg looks to be the same one shown with the Bilchmann burner above.

To bring them in commercially there are a few hoops to jump through but these are the same burners I use and they are awesome.

Never had any issues with mine and I've run them for 10 years, no worries shipping them in personally either, arrived two weeks after ordering and bolted onto a shiny new frame!  Not so shiny and new now haha.

I'm just waiting on the safety report and they'll start shipping.  They have a massive range with all the stands and big pots for cooking crawfish.  I'll have a look later at how much I want to bring over, but some of the simple stands look great for brewing.  Pretty tidy for bbq's too.  Might be a whole new market right there!  Shame I don't have bottomless pockets.

The regs are the same, easy to use and variable pressure so you can set the flame to suit your environment.  Mine sound like I have a harrier tethered in the workshop :)

If nothing else it might help bring the cost of local burners down a bit, the prices here are a bit silly.

I have one of these they are mental, interestingly I saw that smith city sell the exact same burner(branded differently), I am not sure if it comes with the reg though but it was selling for like $220 or something.

haha tell em their dreamin!

I think I have them forecast at about $22 depending on import duty and shipping

reg would be about the same

10minutes... sounds too good, I think that will be next on my shopping list, I wait to see how Liam goes with the importing.

Current gas is much quicker than the old electric... but not 10minutes. 15minutes to Strike temp maybe.
