Apparently ladies pantihose make for good hop socks as well...
Just saying...
whats the thing intended to be used for?
nah i meant what do people buy the filters for from placemakers? nova pipe?
just to jump on the band wagon has anybody tried the resealbale tea bags from ebay for hop additions?
would these be of any use or are they too small to let the hoppy goodness out?

Or these
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Creative-2-5-Inch-Reusable-Stainless-Steel-... you can get 3" ones aswell but this is what I came up with after 2 miutes of searching. At less that NZ$2.50 each you could get a few for each of your additions.
I did have a look at those as well but wasn't sure the mesh would be fine enough, gotta love chinese cheap stuff on ebay,
do you reckon the mesh would keep pellet hops contained well enough?

I saw this thread with a guy that used a similar one (a 5" tea ball) as a cheap hop stopper with good results with leaf hops. A few people on that thread said they had used them as hop balls (as in their "normal" use) with good/ok results with pellets, but one said no dice. I might just go check how maxed out the visa is now...
Just bought 3 of the 2.5" tea balls, I'll let you guys know how they go in 10 - 20business days!
do let us know how they go as I am keen to get some if they work,
cheers
