Ok, so What Are You Brewing was a hotty, as topics go.

Now I'm 15 pints into a keg I only filled on Tuesday and wondering if anyone else has a favourite at the moment ?

It's my second brown with US-Oh05 and it's better than the forst, maybe Ikept the temps down a bit during the scorcher we had in januray

and watch out for wild cougars!
I'll try both the pale ale and the wanktoberfest lager. And then I'll probably move onto 33. Because that beer sure does sound yummy. Then maybe I'll top it off with an aged Monteiths black.

The website paints a pretty picture (apart from that ponsonby gold crap, seriously, who writes that garbage). I suspect there will be a pretty huge chasm between how good they want you to think it is, and how good it really is.
I tried the pale ale. It was truly horrid. It may have actually been Tui, certainly the barman had no idea of what he was serving.

At least they had Erdinger to wash away the taste
maybe it would taste good aged....;0)
Renaissance Blonde?!?!?!?!?! WTF is that and where can I get it in a bottle?
Bottles coming soon - labels being made etc.
Look forward to this. It's really tasty and refreshing, loaded with Riwaka:P
I've only had one pint, so far (it was on at Bar Ed for a little while). It needs a shade more bitterness I think (esters, malt and heaps of riwaka flavour = sweet!) but it is pretty good.
Friends visiting from Bristol, so coming to Wellington for the evening to provide an extensive education in (real) NZ beer with the malthouse as the classroom. Wouldn't mind trying that Golden boy actually.
Well after a rather protracted weekends imbibing I thought I'd list down the results, just because....

NZ beers sampled:
Epic Pale Ale (bottle)
Wigram Bristol Bitter (bottle)
Founders Long Black (bottle)
Emersons Pilsner (bottle)
Emersons Bookbinder (bottle)
Renaissance Porter (bottle)
Founders Fair Maiden (Malthouse)
Tuatara Pilsner (bottle)
Tuatara Hefe (rigger)
Yeastie Boys Golden Boy (rigger)
3 boys Golden Ale (bottle)
Croucher Hefe (bottle)
Invercargill Boysenberry (bottle)
Renaissance Perfection Ale (bottle)
Emersons JP (bottle)
And finally
Pink Elephant Imperious Rushin Stowt (bottle).

I won't bore you with the lengthy tasting notes but my guests chose the following winners/losers over the course of the tastings:
Winners
Bookbinder- tastes just as wonderful as ever in a bottle in my humble opinion.
3 boys Golden Ale

Honourable mention
Epic Pale Ale
Invercargill Boysenberry- bit sweet for me but they loved it.

Losers-

Croucher Hefe- put side by side with Tuatara hefe and it fell short. Bristolians suggested it reminded them slightly of their local scrumpy.
Rushin Stowt- Might have drunk this too cold, too much marmite.

All in all they were overwhelmed by the quality and variety on offer (especially since we're only 4million strong).
Might need a week (oh alright till wednesday) to recover then christmas.
Nice weekend!
I'd be jealous if that didn't look like an average week for me ;-)

I was over your side of the hill and enjoyed a few bottles of Peak Porter. It was tasting pretty good.
yes, I often hark back to the days I lived around the corner from Regional..... every night a new surprise to take home and try. Moving to the 'rapa drove me to homebrewing to be honest. the home brew stocks took a hiding too so need to pop into Peak and try and get some grain for this weekend.
