I just got 60L of smoked robust porter to the boil and added the hops.  I went to start the timer when disaster struck.  The 1xAAA battery powered electronic timer stuck to the wall by a magnet fell off the wall and straight into the brew pot.

I turned off the gas immediately then I taped a lagre siv onto a brew paddle and tried to scoop it out with out success.  I got my longest bbq tongs and rubber gloves and tried to find it but it was way too hot for that..   so I scooped out most of the beer into spare brew pots and buckets and finally recovered the timer about 10 mins after it went in.

question is if you soak 1 aaa battery in 60L of beer at 100 deg for 10 minutes would you still drink it.  The battery looks fine and is not compromised in any way I can see. I pulled the labell off it and the metal shell is still sealed as far as I can tell.

Do I continue and finish brewing this or chuck it away...  I dont want to poision anyone...but it's probably fine.... but what if its not...

I better decide before the next hop addition....

fuck it

I am tipping it. Worst brewing experience yet...

Cant have beer that I dont know if its safe or not

heading towards $100 worth of ingredients in there..

fuck!
If the battery looks ok like you say then I'd carry on and forget it ever happened. Just give the beer a name that reflects the situation and you'll have beer with cool story behind it.

I'd drink it as long as it tastes ok.
How about just leaving out the late hops. That way you won't be throwing any more money at it and you're not wasting what you've already spent. Smoked porters are good without late hops anyway.
