Does anyone know where I could purchase a wort immersion cooler ( or the copper to make one ) in NZ? Also after ideas to make my own fermentation temp. control container (old fridge) plus controller. Does it require a heat source as well as cold and how would the controller switch between them? I'm no electrician but can follow a wiring diagram.

Got my IC from Brewerscoop in Auckland. I think people have picked up copper off TradeMe in the past if you want to make your own.
I use a tempmate for fermentation temp control, brilliant gadget. I plug the fridge into that plus a heat pad and it kicks in which ever is required as and when. I got a sparky to wire it up but plenty of others have done there own if you're handy at that kind of thing

Like JackoNZ, I also got my IC from Brewer's Coop. They're going for $180 but they're a good length (15m I think) which makes for quick cooling. And again like JackoNZ, I use a TempMate from CraftBrewer in a converted fridge in combination with a heat pad. I wired up the TempMate myself; read about it here and see a close up of the wiring here.

WOW . Only just joined, and you guys are so helpful. Went to a meeting of all grain brewers here recently and the brew I took was c...p compared to what the others had to sample. Apparently my brew suffered from lack of temp. control and hence my query. Have a couple of bids on Trademe for a small fridge then on to a temp. controller. Haven't made a brew for months since attending the meeting .Been drinking Sassy Red my locally bought favourite beer since. Thanks guys but keep those replies coming.
