Apologies for posting this in the general forum but not everyone reads the SOBA forum and we're looking for as many people to attend as possible.

Thursday 1st April has been designated by SOBA as Brewjolais Day - a day to celebrate the launch of Mac's Brewjolais, a distinctive wet-hopped pale ale. We'll be gathering in Mac's Brewbars around the country and raising a toast (at 6pm) to the beer, the brewers & the company that makes it.

There's an Event listed on this site with more details. I hope that lots of you will turn up at your nearest location. Although this is a SOBA-organised event, guests are more than welcome so bring along your friends, families and workmates. It's the last evening before the Easter holiday so there's no work (for most of us) the next day. Should be a great night out.

Cheers,

Martin

Will be at the Newmarket venue - might be a little late for the toast at 6pm, but will be there by 8 at the latest.
Dumb question but....

How should I go about pronouncing the name of this beer?
Brew

then Jolly, but with an 'ay' sound instead of an 'ee' sound at the end.

You can see I'm not a linguist, can't you?
Thanks - I guess the main thing was finding out whether the j was said as an h or not, like jalapeño.
It's now less than a week until we celebrate Brewjolais Day! We'll be gathering in Mac's Brewbars around the country at 6pm next Thursday, 1st April to raise a toast to this lovely beer and the people that brewed it. I hope that many of you can make it to one of the six Brewbars to join us. I haven't heard much from SOBA members in Christchurch or Newmarket - let me know if you're out there people!

And just to encourage you all, Lion Nathan have kindly offered all card-carrying SOBA members attending the Brewjolais Day celebrations one free glass of Brewjolais. You'll need to show your membership card to get your free drink, and it's limited to one glass per person. Feel free to invite friends and family along, but unfortunately they won't be able to get a free beer - the bar managers need to see a membership card.
Not sure if I will be able to make it along Thursday night. How much is made and how long is it typically available for?
I'm not sure how much is made but it's usually around for a few weeks. Mind you, if SOBA members get cracked into it on Thursday night it might not last so long!

Getting excited now - only a few days to go!
It lasted a month and a bit last year in Wellington. Might not last as long this year though...
Brewjolais Day is almost upon us. This Thursday (1st April) at 6pm SOBA members will gather in the 6 Mac's Brewbars around the country to raise a toast to Brewjolais and the brewers that made it.

By my calculations I know of 33 confirmed attendees across the country, which is a little disappointing. I hope there will be more people actually going to attend, but I've only heard from 33. As expected we have plenty of people planning to attend at Shed 22 in Wellington, but some of the other bars are a bit under-represented: Nelson, Christchurch and Newmarket are looking a bit thin. I'm really keen to hear from people who can get to these bars.

So please round up other SOBA members and remind them that they'll get a free beer if they show their membership card. Feel free to invite along colleagues, friends and family (although they won't get a free beer). It's going to be a great night, and it'll be even better if we get lots of people there.
I'm dragging along a couple of mates. Not sure where I'll be going. If the weather's is good (like it always is up here), probably Kingsland...
there's going to be a BIG crowd in Wellington I reckon... a lot will not (yet) be SOBA or Realbeer members.

Unfortunately I've discovered a clash of events so will have to turn up late. Hope to be there about 7ish... and hope that a few others are still around then!!!
Final reminder time - TOMORROW IS BREWJOLAIS DAY!

Make sure you get yourself down to one of the following Mac's bars at 6pm and join in the toast:

Northern Steamship Co. - Quay Street, Auckland
Nuffield Street Trading Co. - Newmarket, Auckland
Neighbourhood - Kingsland, Auckland
Shed 22 - Taranaki Street Wharf, Wellington
The Vic - Trafalgar Street, Nelson
Poplar Lane - cnr Ash & Poplar Street, Christchurch

Card-carrying SOBA members will get themselves a free beer!

I'll be at Newmarket for the toast, then heading on to the Steamship.
