Hi All,

Just getting all the bits together to make the mash tun and all the parts I've gathered are a mixture of copper tube with brass and stainless fittings.

Question is what affect this will have on the beer??

Cheers

Effect on beer? You wont even tell, what these items will effect is your brew day!!
Yeah, what he said.

As long as you look after it all you won't have any dramas.
Yeah what they said. If you are still concerned about it, google metallurgy or read the appendix on how to brew.com by John Palmer (a metallurgist).

My mash tun has copper / brass and stainless.... and my beer tastes like... well.... beer. As Dale said to be the other day, a little lead in your pencil won't hurt! :)
Ha, we'll find that one out in less than a month James!!!
So you think you'll give me brewers droop from your beers?
That's the one and I'll be over run with girls!!!
And you thought you would have to worry about fending off the young lads becuase your kids are cute.... now two fold as they will be able to make great beer!!!
maybe they can just bat for the other team till they are in their 20s.
What?? Become vitiners?
Thanks lads ... I feel better now and shall solder my little heart out this weekend putting it all together :o)
Snap. I'm doing the same but went with a dual braid setup. Damn thing has cost almost $100 so far - all those fittings really add up. Will find out how well it works on Sunday.

I went by what my copy of How to Brew had to say on the topic. Have a look at the online version, it should the same content. The author is a metallurgist so it is a good source.
It's all a bit pricey isn't it .. I'm over the $200 mark and I've not even started constructing yet.

I brewed my first beer using HTB ... I've also been listening to all the back catalog podcasts of BrewStrong on the Brewing Network with Palmer and Zianasheff, which have thown up some good brewing things to try out.
