I'm going to Melbourne 14th to 19th. Any beers / brew pubs I should seek out?

Also going to the states around August woohoo!

I was there, but staying well out of the city. All I went to the city for was taking the kids for day trips and going to the ANHC. Which had sponsor beer on tap. From 8:30 in the morning. And food/beer matching dinners both nights. Didn't need to venture outside of that :)

Mountain Goat is a great idea, pretty central in Richmond. The Goat Bar is only open Wednesday and Friday from 5pm.
2 Brothers is down Moorabbin way and are open Thursday arvo from 4 and Friday from 5. Their brewery plant got shipped out (relocated) from Times Square NYC - cool story.
Transport bar over the road from Flinders station is apparently a good pub for boutique beer. That's where pre-conference drinks were held - John Palmer had quite an evening apparently. Annoyed I missed it.

Beer is frighteningly expensive over the ditch so be prepared!

San Fran in August though, now there's a beer destination! Russian River, Magnolias, 21A, Sierra Nevada, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

Alas the folly of youth. Twice been to San Francisco, and wasn't even aware of Russian River then. But Magnolia's - great place to while away an afternoon, and then down to 21A for the evening...

Made it to Transport Bar today and had a Fat Yak pale ale on tap...hope to get back there to sample more beers. Our apartment is close to Richmond so will make it to Mountain Goat tomorrow hopefully. The IGA liquor store downstairs has a great selection of beers. After a Samuel Smith Organic Best Bitter, I'm hooking into a Sierra Nevade pale ale and then Little Creatures Pilsener.

drank a six pack of this last night. a great quaffer. found an excellent bar in fitzroy (unsure of name) and tried a 6.1% Ultra Special Bitter. Not sure of the brand but it was delicious. Apparently there is a Little Creatures beer hall in Fitzroy which I am going to hunt out.
Had plenty more fat yak also. Missed out on Mountain Goat but will try some of their beers from the bottle-o downstairs.

Have successfully converted some friends into brewing also. I bought a case of my own home brew with me which has impressed them enough to have a go. Planning a trip to grain and grape to get myself some stuff and my mate will come to buy some kit.
