Get involved:
A competition like this doesn't happen without the help and participation of many dedicated individuals. Volunteering to help at the beer competition is rewarding and great fun. What could be better than chatting about beer to other like minded souls! You don't have to be a homebrewer - just a beer lover.
We need Wellington based volunteer organisers, stewards and judges. If you are available to help on the dates above please let me know at brendon@libertybrewing.co.nz

The beer styles will follow the BJCP 2008 style guidelines plus additional style descriptions to cover New Zealand styles:
http://www.bjcp.org/docs/2008_Guidelines.pdf

The New Zealand Style Guidelines to be used are:

Jesus!! Stu!! im not that old all my mates still have hair!!! apart from me!! but I choose this!! honestly!!
What about all those casks though!
Sam - TheGrandmaster - is going to the GBBF this year too, so I'll be even more jealous around then. Still, I can drink partially fermented IPA and neither he nor Jabba can... they can have their real ale festivals.
Ive done the GBBF!!! its rank!! no atmosphere!! good beer...but its all about the camra members and there tweed pants and smokers jackets oh and white whispy beards!! there anal!! and I dont like them!! They like selection over a decent pint!! We, I, was awarded the top cellar of the year buy Youngs but had a camra (Loud mouth) member turn us down??? For Real beer guide!! I dont get it!! Oh and Give me a yeastie boys T shirt and I would wear it everywhere!!
Sometimes you just need to pick the closest style. Even if you're out of style, you'll still get feedback about your beer.

Last year I brewed my first lager. My efficiency was so bad that it ended up being out of style. I was trying to brew a NZ Pils but considered entering it as a Dortmunder Export. In the end I entered it as a NZ Pils and got maked down which was fair because I had failed to brew what I was trying to brew. As a result I have upgraded my system and I believe I am now better able to brew what I'm aiming for.

Result: A good beer (although slightly out of style), good feedback, an upgraded system, a better brewer and better beer.
sorry for the thread jack but;

Is it Kora?
Down the bottom there is a "music player". It's all "The Toasters". Only NZ band I've ever heard sounding that upbeat is the Wellington ska band The Offbeats.
NZ needs more first wave and skinhead jams.
First wave - as in 50's ska? The real Jamaican stuff. Or the early English stuff, around the time the UK punks ripped of the Americans?
Anything that isn't 3rd wave really. Most 2nd wave stuff is pretty meh too.

I'm more of an Oi! type anyways.
You'd get on well with Sean from SOBA down here. He's an old school punk - accountant in a law firm now, of course!
Haha choice.

Business and Sham69 this year too, fuck yeah!

Wow, got a little off topic here.
So you like a bit of def metal?
