Hey, so I'm thinking about getting a 2L conical flask off labwarehouse.co.nz for yeast starters, but because I'm a tight student I really don't want to pay half the cost of the flask in shipping. So, does anyone in ChCh want to get something from the Lab warehouse and combine the order and save on shipping?
I may have broken jades conical flask when trying to clean it, is anyone else interested in getting any supplies from labwarehouse, we need another 2 L flask, and possibly a 500mL flask.
hahaha, thats fkn sweet.
yeah it was a fairly retarded moment on my part. oh well ya learn these things...
i pretty sure we are well sorted for beer for a long time, although our bitter that we bottled on new years eve is very disappointing ;(. we think it is due to the long period that we left the wort in the polyethylene cube. Or the quality of the hops. anywho we have deemed this brew not worthy of being affixed with the drunken pope label, instead it shall be the first of our very small and short lived "The Vicars Kiddy Fiddler Reserve" label.
booyah
You guys are f'n sick... but i'm sure that label design will be impressive also!
Cubes should be good for storage of up to a month easy is long as you purged the head space when you cubed it (e.g. cap sealed when you squeezed the cube until the hot wort was just about coming out of the lid). There are commerical examples of this in Aussie, where they have fresh wort kits.
What is "wrong" with it? Is there a flaw or is it that it's not bitter enough?
yeah did all that with the cube, there may have been a tiny wee bit of air in the cube but only like 10mL or so. it was in there for a month i think. the ESB is kinda cidery and soapy and not very bitter at all, we noticed the cidery smell when we bottled it as well. it's not a bleach residue so its either the long stay in the cube or the Hops were low quality. Its just lost its flavour intensity somehow. Reminds us of CD :(
Finally got it running!!! Innoculating the 2l of starter for my Imperial IPA. First smell of the yeast would indicate it might be a little better for a Imperial Stout.
