I recently purchased a PH testing kit from brewshop:

http://www.brewshop.co.nz/ph-meter-basic.html

I know that the cheapo PH meters are generally frowned upon, but I figure something is better than nothing and at $40 what is there to lose?

Anyway, in the instructions it says to calibrate I need to mix up the buffer solution in deionised water... anyone have any idea what deionised water is, and where I can source some in auckland/NZ?

Also, I've seen on international forums people talking about buying buffer solution pre-made - any idea where I can get this? the two sachets that came with the meter are 6.86 and 4.00 - so I assume I need those two?

Thanks in advance for your help...

De-ionised water or distilled water is what is used to top-up car batteries, so is easily available from SuperCheap or Repco.

awesome, cheers

You can buy more sachets on aliexpress too

You will get in any bigger super market.
