STC-1000 probe in mash

Has anyone tried using their STC-1000 in a cooler / mash tun?

I know the probe is waterproof but would it stand up to an hour at 67ish temperature?  

I just thought it would be a good idea so I can keep an eye on the temperature without opening up the lid.

I have been doing exactly this for at least two years and it still works fine.

No, I used to BIAB with a 3kW element and never got around to wiring it up for control as it would have required an SSR or similar. Now using a Rubbermaid cooler system and it holds the temperature well enough for my "rough enough is good enough" motto.
