A pint of the Imperial Black Hopjuice out of the fermenter as I kegged it... it tasted brilliant... and then I couldn't taste anything! Definitely can tell that there was 360g of hops in the kettle and another 150g in the fermenter...
Before that I'd had a pint of mild and a beautiful Ebulum (Eldeberry Black Ale from the Williams Bros in Scotland - http://www.fraoch.com/historicales.htm). Superb!! It was like a perfect Baltic Porter (ale fermented - all the Williams Bros beers taste a little "German") with this amazing subtle fruit characteristic. You'd hardly notice it until a few minutes after you swallowed and then this fruit and tannin just burst onto the palate. A near perfect beer for me. Wish I had another bottle (or a bottle store in Wellington selling it).
An excellent few days beer-wise (and in general). Yesterday I had a couple of bottles of Renaissance Perfection Pale Ale while down on the beach. Went down perfectly with fish & chips. I'd forgotten quite how excellent that beer was. Then back home to sample a few of my own - the Saison is going down particularly well.
Today out to Hallertau for lunch. The seemingly bottomless well of Maximus has still not run dry, and it's still tasting great. The Deception was also in fine form, and the Stunt Women Imperial Pilsner is still dangerously drinkable.
What an excellent weekend. All is right with the world.
Had a great weekend in Christchurch, met Ged and drank a lot of beer! Twisted hop IPA is tasting great! pomeroys is a great pub, got home this arvo and my crazy 88 APA is tasting awesome after a week in the bottle! maybe i should have put this in 'highs and lows' ok what am i drinking....drinking emersons APA...kinda disappointing after twisted hop....ah well
I had a great weekend in Taupo. Excellent weather, starry starry night and a hot hot day.
Enjoyed a few glasses of homebrew mild ale.
The only commercial beers I drunk were:
* Moa Trad (I've now convinced Sam 'The Grandmaster' just how good this beer is in its 750ml bottle-conditioned format - this beer was friggin' excellent again, near perfect), and
* Chimay White, which I was a bit too tired to enjoy (and too thirsty to sip!!!).
Earlier in the week I had another couple of bottles of the magic Renaissance Porter... quite possibly my pick for best beer in NZ right now.

It's late Friday afternoon, there's much mirth in the air (bloody aircon) and it's warm.
What's left of the brain invariably turns to what to drink on weekend release from the daily grind ..
.. I think I have a pint left of a styrian golding ale left on tap 4 .. then it's the cascade ale .. maybe a bottle of brother Bob's lager ..
Crazy 88 APA (out of a crate bottle for real classy drinking) but first....Yeastie Boys Golden Boy!
Gonna try and get some of the new renaissance beer tomorrow
There's some saison in the fridge for this evening. My mates having a party this weekend and has gone to great lengths to put a keg of Twisted Hop Challenger on.....salivate.
