Sodium percarbonate is a steriliser not a cleaner.

Use caustic soda, swill it around every 5 minutes until it's clean.

Use the maximum strength as shown on the container (for cleaning drains).

Keep it off everything not s/s though, especially you.

Smiffy

Proper Sodium Percarb is a cleaner. not a sanitiser.

I certainly wouldn't use it for that.

If you use warm water and percarb, and let it sit for 48 hours, you should be able to get some off.

Ive been using the brew-tec no rinse sterilizer  to clean for a while now.. So far i've not had any infections..the company seem to be marketing the product as a steriliser

You've got me a little worried now rob :)

the caustic softened it and scrubbing with a pot scrub stuck onto a stick got it off.

will look at a bulk buy off trademe now so that next time I can soak it full for a day

Could be beerstone - hard stuff to get rid of, caustic is the way to go.

I've also had luck alternating between hot percarb and triple strength hot starsan but it took a few cycles.

You could also use Powder Brewery Wash(PBW). Its caustic based(i think) i little more user friendly than pure caustic and available from the LHBS. Works good on s/s.
