Want to buy: Magnetic Drive Pump 150W (1/4hp) or larger New or Used - Suggestions?

Hi all,

I am looking for a pump to build a keg washer with and also use for Brewery transfers.

From my research, it seems 1/4hp (approx 150W) would be the minimum size I would need and it needs to handle 100deg C.

Anyone been able to source one of these in NZ?

Thanks,

Eugene

take a look at this     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl6pxAV32t4

I am about to do same as just got a stack of 20L sanke kegs

I got 20 of nicks cheap taps....  going to join  then up somehow cheaply...  I don't think you need a mag drive pump....   a cheap spa pool pimp would do the trick...

one that can handle salt water..

this is not cheap but has heater built in http://www.trademe.co.nz/home-living/outdoor-garden-conservatory/sw...

I was planning to goto 80C ish oxy or pbw then water clean...then star stan

That is grunty for the price! Only rated to 50deg though by the looks, 80deg Caustic may not be too good for it.

Also I'd be nervous of contaminants coming from the pump getting into my kegs if it's not magnetic drive no? I'm no pump expert but it seems like Mag Drive is a safer option.

By the way where did you get the Sanke Kegs?

Sankes off trademe, keep watching they come up a bit  ..     they pop up here and there, have quite a few 50's as well, that I am going to ferment in  as soon as I get cleaning setup....

the small amount of time you have oxy or PBW in contact with impeller....   but yeah mag Iwakai etc be the go if you that worried.

This guy uses a march pump you could just use one from your brewing system I guess.....

Eugene we brought a bunch of ex lion 25L Sankes from Keg resources, about $90 each from memory. Got sick of expensive cornies. Washing is a prick but we made a tool to remove spears and just get the waterblaster onto them every now and again..I have an old spa pump somewhere...next project keg washer!

Yea keg washer off a pump is the way forward! Will post a pic of mine when it's done. Multi purpose so we can clean pots, fermenters, cornelius kegs and d kegs with it!

Nick   Can you post a picture of the spear removal tool you have made?  thanks Peter
