hi Chris i had a look at your blog and might be keen for one of the recirculation plates: i have an insulatted commercial ss sink as a mash tun with perforated ss botom, my system also has a pump.
with the sink being rectangular would the recirculation plate work? or would the rotating sparge be better? also can i have some idea of cost?
to recirculate i was using a matrix of tubing with slits, but found it wasnt ideal
let me know if you need more details
thanks, Chad
Hi Chad
Hey im sure the recirc plate would work fine for your setup. Are you batch or fly sparging?
The sparge arm is only for sparging and wouldnt be ideal for a rectangular vessel as it wouldnt spray out into the corners completely.
What was the prob with the pipe manifold setup?
Cheers
Chris
i sort of didnt have it set up that well i was using cheap plastic tubing, and it would bend and sort of sink into the grain bed a bit when hot. i could persevere with it or make a new one out of copper. i'm batch sparging just filling, allowing to settle and then running off slowly.
does the recirculation plate sit above the grain bed and spin? or does wort just spray off in all directions? enlighten me on how it works and give us a quote
cheers, chad
Hey the recirc plate was designed to sit just on top of the mash liquid and distribute the liquid gently across the surface instead of a torrent from the hose or such carving a channel into your nice grain bed.
Under normal recirc rates it wouldnt spray out as such. I have an adjustable bracket in my mash tun that holds sparge arms and or the recirc plate to the required height.
If you could email me on banksbrewinghardware@gmail.com I would be happy to give you pricing.
Cheers
Chris
