Has anyone seen or used of these puppies before?

http://www.blichmannengineering.com/HopRocket/HopRocket.html

I was considering getting one for use with aroma hopping but more importantly for use with one of my beer engines. Would it be any good having a beer pass over dry hops just before drinking?

Bit on the pricey side at AUD 150 odd and shipping from aus. I may end up just adding it to the wish list but if others are interested and want to combine on shipping, I would be easily tempted into buying.

aussie site is ibrew.com.au

keen to hear any reviews or if anyone knows a cheaper/better place to get one.

Cheers!

If you have a keg set-up I'd me more inclined to buy a hop ball :

This is much cheaper and could do the same thing. You could out 10 in a keg and still save cash. You could spend it on a camera and stop using your web-cam to take dodgy photos ;P

I have a couple corny keg that I connect to my hand pumps. I was wanting to connect the hop rocket outside the keg so the beer actually passes over the hops en route to the glass right before you drink it.

Keg --- hop rocket --- beer engine --- glass.

Like a beer randalizer..?

I thought this was also a dating site, hence the photo.

Ah its all becoming clear. Honestly at $150 AUD I'd go to a stainless steel worker and ask them to make one. it would be half the price. Or you could maybe convert one of those water filter systems to do something similar. Its looks pretty flash, but its expensive. Then you'd have to buy the connections as well...+ postage. I'm sounding like a tight-arse here, but I wouldn't pay for it.

Check this video of Mike's out.

Not sure what it cost but I would say it is cheaper, just not as shiny!

Honestly you could do it for like 80-90 bucks, $45 housing off trademe a couple of fittings for beer in and out and a tube for a hop seperater on the inside of the housing and your away. I believe this is the best way do do it over the Blichaman Bling, as you can fit more than 3oz of Hops in it, in my video I had 500g of Flowers and 100g Pellets amd I only had 4 pints off it!!

Awesome. I knew somebody else would have already thought of this and made one!

Actually seeing the hops is far cooler than the shiney metal casing.

What did you use for the housing and the separators?

You could go into business selling em on trademe like that, I'd go for it.

Can you OD from that many hops??

I've seen something somewhere on the net, may have been here http://www.homebrewtalk.com/ where a guy made one out of an AG Jar with a couple of pipes soldered into the lid (lead free solder of course). Looked cheap and easy to make and you can see the hops. Might pay to do a search on that site.
Here's the link http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/diy-hopback-115210/ No soldering. The photos are quite small if you are juast a guest, much bigger if you join HBT. Worthwhile.
