I have 5 days in Feb...

Best craft beer pubs to visit? Must drink beers? Brewery tours?

Any suggestions?

This website is good for what is on and to do with craft beer in Melbourne

If you are there on a Wednesday or Friday then get along to Mountain Goat Brewery in Richmond for beer and pizza.  Great night and an excellent way to see that beer is anything but being all about beards and notebooks.

The Local Taphouse in St Kilda is probably my pick of the pubs, although I like the Sydney one even more!

In the city, you are blessed with Beer Deluxe and Transport down at Fed Square. Young and Jacksons, Mrs Parmas, Biero and Cookie just up the road... you'll need a day at least for the CBD.

The Little Creatures Dining Hall in Fitzroy is an excellent place for pints, people spotting and a good bite to eat. Plenty of shopping, if you are with anyone who needs tempting with that. And they have free bike hire if you want to get out and about for the day.

I could go on...  Great city if you are interested in beer.  Possibly the only one in the Southern Hemisphere that gets close to outshining Wellington (which still wins on a per capita basis).

As for what to drink... trust the bar staff or locals with recommendations.  It'll give you a good impression of whether it is worth staying for a while.

I'll be there in May, again, and am looking forward to it already.

Out of town but well worth it.

What Stu said... plus Lambs Go bar.

My order of preference would be:

Mountain Goat

Mrs P's

Local Taphouse

Lambs Go

Y&J

Cookie

Stu: you should see Doug's thread on Welly being the Beer capital ;-)
