Who wants to help try and establish a NZ chapter of CAMRA with me? haha..

I think their aim reflects on us as home-brewers:
"CAMRA's campaigns include promoting small brewing and pub businesses, reforming licensing laws, reducing tax on beer, and stopping continued consolidation among local British brewers."
Just replace 'british' with 'kiwi' and also throw in something about beer quality/mass production bla bla bla.

I call el Presidente!

Who wants vice?

Peace.

Are you aware of SOBA? Cos its basically the same thing, but without the old grumpy dudes ;o)

CAMRA look good in theory but if you brew anything other than cask beer, like an IPA (Good God NOOO) they'll have you hung, drawn and quartered. I love a good cask ale but thats not all beers about. SOBA are a good bunch of guys and more about beer appreciation than Camra in my mind.

Woah dude, I wouldnt go that far, theres probably half the population on this site reading that comment right now and gritting through their teeth :oP A well brewed english ale is the bizness!! Not my favourite, but saying a lager is better? Pffft lol

Each to their own I suppose. I love contradicting myself as well. If it wasn't for the british (Henry VIII) we wouldn't have the awesomeness of hops in our beers. I just prefer lager to ale - is that a crime haha?

How long have you been brewing mate? The majority of us tend to swing towards ales after a while, once we get used to flavour ;o) lol, however some don't (JamesP and Crabbey), like you say, each to their own :o)

hmm beer for probably 7-8 years now. I've usually gone with lagers but I am open to try anything. I'm going to try and start a doppelbock this weekend and with that try my second attempt at an eisbock.

Your probably right though about what you said about peoples preferences changing and tending to swing towards ales after a few years. I was exactly like that with my winemaking which kind of relates...? I've been doing it since I was about 11 (shhh dont tell anyone!) and I started off doing whites. Now I prefer to do reds eh.

I should probably delete that comment about ales I said before... the last thing I would want to do is piss anyone off :S

I wouldn't worry about pissing people off, I do it all the time. It seems to work for Paul Henry too.
