I’m doing my 1st Extract / mini mash brew today : - ) Can anyone advise how much water I use for my mash? My grains fill a 2.5 – 3.0 litre pot, so am I right in assuming I use 5 – 6 litres of water? My actual mash pot holds 8 litres. Also with the grains making up only 33.3% of the fermentables is it still worthwhile sparging before I do the boil?Continue

HI All, Has anyone got a recipe for DB's "Export Gold" ? I wanta make it via the kit method plus add a bit more malt for flavour and bittering and aromatic hops. Any su I also wanta up the alcohol to around 5-6 % I have previously used a Black Rock Lager kit before with #20 beer enhancer along with saflager S-23 yeast and a super alpha finishing hop bag. My Alcohol % was 3.5 - 4%. Can anyone give me improvements on this to achieve the above.Cheers for any adviceTonz.Continue

I think I did something more like the Hoprocker recope that was doing the rounds at the time - and resurfaces every now and then.
If its any help I think Steiny is hopped with green bullet and if I recall Steiny Pure uses some nelson sauvin either would require a very light base malt and carefull use of hops combined with a very clean ferment with a well managed lager yeast
Cheers Chris
Pacific Jade and Sauvin sound good,
I've got no idea on yeast, maybe someone else can chime in here?
Steinlager say there ingredients are all sourced from NZ so my choices of yeasts for "Steinlager Pure" could be ???????
