Fermented with US-05

FG 1.012

 

5.7%ABV, 50 IBU

 

Bottled from keg so no need to decant from the lees. My advice is to drink this one early in the order before the hops fade...

As I've no gardening to do tonight, it's a double tasting feature over here in Kellybachistan (nickname for our gaff, as we can fit all the freinds houses in the back garden with space to spare, so they treat it as a foreign country. Which is fine, as I've set the visitors tax at one rigger of beer per person [off the tap at regionals or THSSSM's(1) TMH(2)])

Appearance
Oh yes, this is good. This is very good. Dark with a red tinge and a good fat tan head. I'd say bang on for style.

Aroma
Roasty coffee choc with a hint of peanut. (It could be just nutty, but i got a couple of wiffs of peanut) I really like it, and I'm occationally getting a sense of seaside (you know that saltyness in the air??)

Taste
Dry roast start, a little malt going with it and sharp bitterness but not overpowering. I'd say this is what I'd always expect from a porter. Great. (it's at this point that I may have to go back to Brew Sci's beer and appolgies for thinking there's an off flavour. I'm getting exactly the same after taste here too. I've had a sniff of my sinus meds and guess what ... that's right, it's that. B'stard!!)

Mouthfeel
Good, maybe a little light but in style. I have a preference for thickness (there's a joke or two here I'm sure of it)


A great beer, and it's just moved into first place as my top pick so far (sorry Jo). Well done on style and on drinkability. I'd have this on tap as a staple (if I had a set of taps of course).

Not to waste time, I pretty much agree with Simon, good Porter, tasted like a Porter if a little thin and a lingering bitterness. Dark Chocolate, Roasted, Malty. The bottle didn't last long.
Far out Andrew did you even give the beer a chance in the fridge before you drunk it? ;o) lol
Fridge....whats that. Thats only for lettuce's I think.
It's a solid porter! Not much of the late hopping comes through, but I think that's the way she goes with these kinds of malt profiles aye? The malt profile is "tasty", and feels "substantial" if that makes any sense. All in all, fuckin delicious. I'd drink this all night.
I had this one a wee while ago now. I thought it was a very clean Porter with a nice dry palate and some pleasant chalky notes coming through. It wasn't what I expected, so that's always a good thing. Light roast characters in the finish - a little bit moreish.

Really liked this. Poured a nice dark colour and looked great in the glass - not too much head to speak of, but I don't think that's a fault. Chocolate, roast and coffee on the nose, which were all backed up very nicely in the palate. Nice balance, very drinkable. Feel free to send more.
Wish I could, its long gone save for a calibration bottle.
Very dark brown with a thin creamy head... dark chocolate and mild hop fruit on the nose... quite dry in the mouth, coffee character (long black rather than instant!), with the roast and hop fruit mingling nicely. Doesn't come across as 50ibu, which is a good thing as that might actually be a bit much for a clean dry porter like this.

Nice drop, I could well have knocked off another (or two).

Polished this off last night....... Finally haha, sorry about that, still got a few to go also...

 

Pours a dark black with a small, but tightly packed tan head, visible carbonation and eventually the head goes moussy and sticks to the glass like glue. Quite a pungent aroma, like citrus on top of a bed of cocoa and coffee beans! Very inviting! Firm up front bitterness, which dissolves into a coffee and citrus finish, which sort of clashes in a way, but then becomes very moreish which was quite wierd...

 

Very good Porter bro, it seemed to have a lot more hop aroma than when you dropped all the CS6 beers around? Which suprised me?? Maybe it was just my palate tho...
