This beer is a bigger, pilsner'fied variation of a NZPA that I brewed earlier in the year that I really liked.  I'm not usually one to brew Pilsners but thought I'd give it a go with Wyeast 2112 while the temps are good.  It's still very young but I'm pretty happy with it.

I have a small confession to make about this beer but I'll save it until some feedback has come in.

I hope you enjoy it.  All honest feedback welcome.

Cheers

I bottled this beer from the keg but it was a bit rushed and the beer was still a little cloudy as it went into the bottle. It's not bottle conditioned but there will likely be a little sediment.
Hahaha I did the same but wasnt planning on telling anyone :oP
Had this one last night. Very nice and went well with the beef roast.

Only thing I'd say is that it could have been a little crisper, maybe not acidic enough.

Nice use of hops, very tasty.
How was the carbonation Simon?
Not too bad, maybe dial it back a little bit. Had a head a foot high as I shot the first bit straight down the centre .... good retention though, was still heady at the half way mark.
My first beer from this round of the case swap, and a great place to start. As usual, I've not read any of the other notes on this.

Pours a straw-gold with a creamy white head that persists all the way down the glass. Slight grassiness on the aroma, definitely NZ hops.

I'm not much of a pilsner drinker but this is a very well brewed beer. Good malt basis, and an excellent crispness. As it warms up the juicy hops make themselves more evident. Slight astringency lurking in there, but that's all I could hold against it.

Nice work!
Thanks for the feedback Martin. I haven't picked up any astringency in there at all. I'll keep it mind next time I sample it. Cheers.
Where you pleased with the yeast Mr C - any comments on fermetation temps ?
Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the yeast and I'd certainly use it again. With that amount of hops the line between ale and lager becomes a little blurred for me but I have no complaints.

I fermented at 18C for one week and then room temp (19-21C) for another week with dry hops for the last 5 days. I was hoping to give it a week or two cold conditioning before the case swap but the date jumped forward and I had three days to get from fermenter to bottles via keg. I had to abandon my bovine fining plans. It seems to be getting cleaner and crisper every week.

I can't help but wonder what that yeast would be like in a smaller, less hoppy pilsner but that style just isn't on my list of beers I want to brew. I would happily brew with it again.
Cheers Mr C
That was probably higher than I've dared gone with a primary ferment with W2112 so it's heartening to hear how it's turned out and it's very tempting to get some again myself
First of the case swap beers for me. Poured a really nice gold/straw colour with a good fluffy white head that lasted well. Great clarity, really nice in the glass. Could pick the cara-pils up, along with a dose of tasty hops. Very enjoyable to drink, this didn't last very long at all. I'd say a little more bitterness than I was expecting from a pils, which I like.

Overall a really enjoyable beer, well brewed Mr C.
Thanks for the feedback vdog, glad you enjoyed it. Can you taste cara-pils or are you referring to the mouthfeel 7 foamy burps? I only get the mouthfeel and for me carapils always seems to be too much or absent.
