I reckon go all kolsh as well jt, it seems to be a pretty good malt, I got some great efficiency off of it yesterday and the grain itself tastes great if you chew on it..

Try it as the base malt that way it will give you a true indication of how it preforms

That was my thinking Mike, but for some reason the supplier suggested substitute just a kilo first time up

I've weighed it as all Kolsch for the base.
Bad move maybe as I still have 27kg of ADM Pils left (and 8kg Global)
If I do like the Global, the plan is to ration it out at 25% of base grain until the ADM is finished.
On the other hand I might not like it and fill up the compost bin - or use it as wabbit food !

3kg Marris Otter
1kg Wheat
Hops are 50/50 of NZ Styrian Golding and NZ Cascade
10g @ 60
30g @ 15
30g @ 5
Wyeast 1098 British Ale

IBU: 25, OG: 1.041

Thoughts? (we're crushing the marris otter now) Also trying to use up these hops, as we have 36g and 40g of each.
looks like something I could brew myself, Schnapps. I love MO as a base malt, good call!
Let's hope like hell the yeast turns up today! :(
Don't forget we use no-chill (until I see some more 15m 1/2 inch copper tubing on TM for cheap), so it shouldn't matter too much :)
I have some harvested 1968 sitting in the fridge if that is any help, I used some for a starter a few weeks back and it went fine, although it took a day or so to 'wake up'...... however it may be a bit malty for a summer ale?
I have some harvested W34/70 if you want to make it into a lager! :)
i'm making a wit tomorrow and about half the grain bill is crushed wheat, which i will cereal mash

i'm looking around for something to help me calculate the required strike water temp so i hit 150f when i dump the boiled cereal mash in.

can anyone point me in the right direction?

here is the grain bill if it makes a difference-

2.11 lbs. White Wheat Malt
4.23 lbs. Belgian Pils
1.06 lbs. Munich Malt
10.04 lbs. Wheat Flaked
0.53 lbs. Oats Flaked

10.5 g is the finished volume
